The Sunbow / Marvel Production era of animation in the early-to-mid 1980s was a high point for many children as well as the crew of animators, writers and voice actors involved. So often this period is hand-waved or criticized as being nothing but 20 minute long toy commercials. I can’t dispute the commercial drive behind and within the shows, but each series (G.I. Joe, Transformers, Jem, My Little Pony & Friends, Visionaries, Inhumanoids) was a cut above the competition with wit that only an adult could pick up on. If these were only commercials they would not continue to be so beloved to this day. I’ll take commercials with a great storyline, writing and acting anyday.

However, not all episodes were shining examples or at the peak of Sunbow’s powers. I’ll attempt to be honest in my reviews.
